Privacy Policy.

When you create an account we ask for your name, email address, and the school and district you teach in, and we record the role you select. If you apply for an educator grant we collect what the application asks for, which includes your phone number, school address, position, teaching experience, and the details of your proposal. If you recommend a resource or contact us, we keep what you send. If you subscribe to the Educator Bulletin we store your email address and your subscription preferences.

When a resource page is opened we record that it was viewed and when. Signed-in views are recorded against your account. Signed-out views are recorded against a pseudonym derived from your IP address and browser user-agent; it is a one-way value we cannot reverse, but because it is derived from personal data we treat it as personal data. We use this to count how often material is used, not to build a profile of you.

The Educator Bulletin is double opt-in: we send a confirmation request and only add you once you confirm. Bulletins contain a tracking pixel that records whether a message was opened, and links that pass through a redirect so we can count clicks. This tells us which material educators find useful. Every bulletin carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops both the mail and the tracking. Transactional email — sign-in links, account approval, grant decisions — is sent because you asked for it or applied for something, and is not part of the bulletin list.

We set a session cookie so the site can keep you signed in, and a small cookie recording whether you chose the light or dark appearance so the first paint is correct. Sign-in links and invitations are held server-side in our own cache. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Forms on this site are protected by hCaptcha, which receives a challenge token from your browser — and, where the challenge is shown, your answers to it — in order to tell a person from a bot. Email is delivered through our mail provider. Application errors are reported to our own self-hosted monitoring, which may include the URL, your account id, and technical details of the failure. Where a feature uses AI — drafting a lesson plan, suggesting tags, transcribing a recorded livestream — the text or audio involved is sent to a model provider (currently OpenAI, and Google for image work) to produce the result. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Images and documents published on this site are uploaded by our team, not by visitors. A photograph can carry metadata the camera wrote into it, including the location where it was taken, and a file served from this site carries whatever metadata it arrived with. Anyone who downloads a published image can read that metadata. We ask contributors to strip location data before sending us photographs; if you find a published image that carries location data you would rather it did not, tell us and we will replace it.

Some pages embed video hosted by YouTube or Vimeo. An embedded player behaves exactly as if you had visited that site directly: the provider can see that a request came from your browser, may set its own cookies, and may record your interaction with the video, including linking it to an account if you are signed in to that provider. We do not control what those providers collect, and their own privacy policies govern it. Nothing else on this site embeds third-party content.

Before you can use this site we ask you to accept our Terms & Conditions and this Privacy Policy. When you accept, we record the date and time, the IP address you connected from, your browser and operating system as your browser reports them, a short code derived from your browser and screen settings that helps us tell one device from another, the page you were on, and which version of each document you agreed to. We keep this as evidence of consent: if the documents change we ask again, and the record shows what was agreed to at the time. If you later create an account or sign in from the same browser, that record is linked to your account, so it can be shown alongside your name and email. We do not use any of it for advertising, we do not sell or share it, and you can ask us to erase it.

To run your account and decide whether to approve it; to answer you; to assess a grant application; to send the bulletin you asked for; to understand which materials educators use so we can commission more of what helps; to keep the site secure and working.

We keep account and application records for as long as your account exists and while we may still need them for the purpose they were given for. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we retain the fact of the unsubscribe so we do not mail you again by mistake. If you want a specific record removed, ask us.

You can edit your account details at any time, unsubscribe from the bulletin from any bulletin, and ask us to correct or delete what we hold. Write to us and a person will answer. If you are in a place with statutory data rights, we will honour them; tell us what you are asking for and we will deal with it rather than requiring a particular form of words.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to erase it. Write to us through the contact page and say which you want. We will not erase what we are required to keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons, and we will tell you if that applies to anything you have asked about. Deleting your account does not by itself withdraw a grant application you have already submitted — ask us separately if you want that removed too.

This site is built for educators, and accounts are reviewed before approval. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

We will update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top will change with it. Material changes to how we use personal data will be announced rather than made quietly.
